During the month of September this year, I met on Tuesday nights with a group of young men in high school at bdubs for a study on what it means to be a man. Because we only met 4 times, we didn't get a chance to go over the whole list. In the following posts, i intend to expound on what it is that we talked about and learned and also the values we decided to agree upon. I hope it is edifying to you.
The main points are below. In the next few blogs, I will be expounding on each point. Obviously, this isn't an exhaustive list. I purposefully didn't include topics like marriage and family and church relationships as main points, but topics like those are addressed in each point in how they should be involved etc.
A partial list of what it means to really be a man:
1. Repent, call on the Name of the Lord Jesus and be saved
2. Be ruthlessly devoted to your own sanctification and holiness
3. Under Christ, be self controlled
4. Let your yes be yes and your no be no
5. Strive to live continuously in view of eternity
6. Use your influence to point others to the Cross of Christ
7. Overall, live and preach the Gospel to the glory of God
In the next post, I'll write out the values we came to know and agree upon as men. I hope and pray that this encourages and helps sharpen you in your walk with Christ.
