Bible Reading Plan

i'm posting this here from my myspace blog.

my Bible reading plan

some of you have been asking about my bible reading plan because you're interested in reading more of the bible yourselves. awesome! i'm glad the LORD is calling you to a more contrite life. i'll post my daily reading from now on.

some of you asked how i decide to read the portions of scripture each day so here's the answer: i looked up online how many chapters there were in the whole bible and decided that i'd like to read the bible through 5 times a year for the rest of my life. after that it was simple math. (which i can do)

if there are 1189 chapters in the whole bible and i'd like to read the bible 5 times in a year, that means that i have to read it through completely in 10 weeks. (this gives me two weeks of leeway because there's 52 weeks in a year right?) ok so 1189 chapters in 10 weeks equals out to 118.9 chapters a week of reading. which in turn equals 16.98 chapters a day. so i just rounded up to 17 per day.

i was asked how i break that down. do i just read from Genesis through Revelation? the answer is no. i've currently read through the bible 4 times this year since i started doing this. the way i did it those 4 times was i read 10 chapters of the old testament and then 7 of the new testament. i started at the beginning of each testament and then read straight through.

this time however, i've decided to read though the Bible chronologically, meaning when the books were written, not in a timeline of the history of the Bible. this means that since some of the books were written in the same year, i'll just read whichever book comes first.

i've currently been in the new reading phase for 6 days meaning that i've read 102 chapters of the Bible.

this means i've read 40 chapters of exodus, 27 chapters in leviticus, and 35 chapters of genesis; in that order.

tomorrow i will read genesis 36-50 and job 1-3.

may the LORD give you all satisfying joy in HIM as you seek HIM.
